'90s TBT : Taylor, Zachary and Isaac 'Hanson's Guide to Happiness'

In honor of Taylor's birthday on March 14, and because I love an excuse to write about Hanson, today I am throwing it back to August 1998.

The year was 1998. A year since 'Middle of Nowhere' released, Hanson was riding the pop star train of success. Their faces were plastered on the cover of every teeny bopper magazine.

For some reason you can't quite explain today, you found those boys irresistible.

Eighteen years and eleven kids later - Taylor, Zac and Isaac, still got it!

Note : That is a picture of Isaac Hanson, Harry Styles (One Direction) and Taylor Hanson. Even today's young boy band members show some respect to their elders.

This is Zac Hanson.

Sure the "oh-so-hunky Hanson clan" are now grown men, all married with children, but it seems like just yesterday they were long-haired children traversing the tumultous times of adolsence with us, and Mmmbopping their way to number 1 on the charts.

Hanson, Backstreet Boys, Boyz II Men: I'll never stop loving 90's Boy Bands

I think I have made it pretty clear, but if you are new to this blog than let it be known that I love the 90s: television, movies, toys, fashion (well, maybe not everything), and music.

I've talked about Saved By The Bell and I've given you lists of former teen heartthrobs from television and movies, but what I haven't done yet is taken the time to discuss the wonderful era of boy bands that we were blessed with in the 90s.

I don't know much of anything about The Wanted or One Direction, but give me a 90s boy band and I'll tell you more than you probably care to hear. For this weeks flashback post on Socialite Life, I compiled a list of 15 Boy Bands from the 90s, and included links to songs for each group so you can reminisce.

Head on over to Socialite Life to get the complete list.

Katy Perry Sings About Last Friday Night

Katy Perry has been posting pics of a nerdy, brace-face, head-gear version of herself for sometime now and tonight we finally got to uncover the context. Katy debuted the video for her single 'Last Friday Night' which features a bevy of cameos from Glee's Darren Criss and Kevin McHale to Friday's biggest star Rebecca Black, even Hanson got a spot in the 8+ minute video that is a throwback to the 80's.

Teen Dream Revisited- Devon Sawa

Fact: beside the Hanson and Backstreet posters plastered to the sky blue walls of my childhood room were smiling pictures of Devon Sawa.
Yup, that is the face of beauty to those of us raised in the 90s.

I was recently browsing my celeb news sources when I stumbled across a photo gallery of Mr. Sawa, shot by Tyler Shields.

He done grown up nice, no? For more pictures of Devon Sawa by Tyler Shields, check out this gallery.

What I did not know is that Devon was most recently on four episodes of the CW show, Nikita. I do not watch the show, obvi, otherwise I would have recognized my teen dream, but my brief research tells me that it also stars Shane West, another dream I shall revisit.

Ever since A Walk To Remember, Shane can do me no wrong. Remeber when Landon took Jamie to the stateline so she could see her dream of being in two places at once? That is some teen romance at it's best; also it is the only Nicholas Sparks book I was not disappointed with when it came to the big screen. Oh how times have changed, teen romance use to be so innocent and virginal.

Anyways, after the recent Devon siting I have decided to reasearch some of my other dream guys. If you, like me, missed Devon on Nikita, you can check him out in either the thrill movie, 388 Arlette Avenue, or the horror film The Sibling, both set for release (according to IMDB) in 2011.

Next up, Rider Strong. Get excited.

an early Valentine's Day gift from Hanson

Every chance I get, I like to share some Hanson love. Here is a video from MTV Clutch in which Hanson offers some advice on love:

Firstly, I want you all to stop thinking of Mmmbop everytime you read the name or see the guys of Hanson. While that catchy little tune did shoot them to stardom in 1997, they actually have MORE songs. More songs, and BETTER songs. Case in point:

Secondly, stop thinking to yourself (or blurting outloud) "Ohhh...I didn't know they got back together." Hanson never fell apart. They have been consistently making music since 1997.

Lastly, didn't they grow up to be some good looking lads?
