Nick Carter, AJ McLean and Joey Fatone Hit San Deigo Comic-Con - Announce New Movie

This is my fourth year at San Diego Comic-Con, and each year I find a little surprise waiting for me. One day into this years convention, and I have already seen two Backstreet Boys, and - less significant to me, but still kind of cool - 1 *Nsyncer! Hello expectations, thank you for not disappointing.

The '90s boy banders were guests on the panel "Nick Carter Goes West: From Boy Band to Zombie Western" that introduced fans to Carter's newest passion project, a zombie film that will star Carter, AJ McLean, Howie Dorough, and Joey Fatone (among others) titled Dead 7.

The project is still in the planning phase, so characters and plotlines are still developing, but the wonderful team at The Asylum will be producing the film. This is the same company that brought us Sharknado, so get excited for something crazy.

Now enjoy these pictures of Carter, McLean, and Fatone at the panel. No boy band rivalry to report, it was all love and support for these friends.

'90s TBT : Taylor, Zachary and Isaac 'Hanson's Guide to Happiness'

In honor of Taylor's birthday on March 14, and because I love an excuse to write about Hanson, today I am throwing it back to August 1998.

The year was 1998. A year since 'Middle of Nowhere' released, Hanson was riding the pop star train of success. Their faces were plastered on the cover of every teeny bopper magazine.

For some reason you can't quite explain today, you found those boys irresistible.

Eighteen years and eleven kids later - Taylor, Zac and Isaac, still got it!

@TaylorHansonMusic

Note : That is a picture of Isaac Hanson, Harry Styles (One Direction) and Taylor Hanson. Even today's young boy band members show some respect to their elders.

This is Zac Hanson.
@TaylorHansonMusic

Sure the "oh-so-hunky Hanson clan" are now grown men, all married with children, but it seems like just yesterday they were long-haired children traversing the tumultous times of adolsence with us, and Mmmbopping their way to number 1 on the charts.

Hanson 4-Ever! <3

'90s TBT : Nick Carter's Serious Face Melts Hearts

BB Magazine, August 1998

*swoon*

Be still my heart.

As much as my teeny heart loved J.T.T. and Devon Sawa, it beat the loudest for Nick Carter. Those blue eyes glare into my soul and reassure me that Mr. Carter, he'll never break my heart. He'll never make me cry. He'd rather die than live without me.

Alas, today he is happily married to Lauren Kitt Carter. Meanwhile, I spend my Friday nights flipping through old Bop and Tiger Beat magazines waiting for my long-haired, middle-part, '90s hottie to join me in my Friends watching marathon. Life goals!

But seriously, can we talk about this long-haired, middle part trend?

The Backstreet Boys' 'In A World Like This' Summer 2014 Tour

Well, it took 15-years, but I finally had my Backstreet Boy dreams come true. In a single night I touched every single member of the group, making my right hand unwashable.

Look at that face! That is what pure joy and excitement looks like on the face of a 20-something who is living the dreams of her pre-teen self.

Because I am an adult who can choose to throw down cash on any thing she darn well pleases, I decided 2014 was as good a time as any to spend ridiculous money on a general admission, pit, concert ticket for the May 28 Backstreet Boys (featuring Avril Lavigne) show at the LA Forum. Happy Birthday to me!

I regret nothing about the choices I made that lead to that evening, nor the spastic screaming and preteen behaviour that may have erupted when the boys men first took to the stage.

The guys are now over halfway through the summer 2014 leg of their 'In A World Like This' World Tour, promoting the 2013 release of their album of the same name.

In case there are any questions, Backstreet Boys are back -actually they were Never Gone- and they very much still have it going on. You may recall that Brian, Nick, A.J. and Howie were a quartet for many years after Kevin Richardson left the group in 2006, but in 2012 Richardson made his return and the pop world is a happier place.

They still got the choreographed dance mooves down

They have swappped chairs for microphone poles, but clearly still got it together when it comes to dancing with props

Oh yeah, and hats, they still know a few hat tricks

The guys, who are now all married and, except Nick Carter, fathers, stood on stage at the LA forum for the first time since their 1999 sold-out Millenium tour. And they all looked and sounded amazing. Seriously, can we just admire Kevin Richardson's backside for a moment.

Now all Backstreet backsides.

And even more pictures to satiate your boy band urges

Baby One More Time

Like overalls and sunflower crop tops, I am back!

To kick off this return, I shall throw as many updates as I can in a single post.

The best way to begin is to help you understand that 2014 is now dedicated to making '90s dreams come true. This year I made a list of some '90s New Year's resolutions, and with the year very near half over I am well on my way to achieving all my dreams this year.

1) Buy tickets for a '90s concert - Backstreet Boys tickets purchased for May 28, 2014! Pictures are now up.

2) Explore new projects from your favorite stars - This is a continual thing. I breezed through Lovin Lakin a couple weeks ago and was sad it was so short. I think Christine Lakin and I could totally be friends.

3) Connect with your favorite stars on Twitter - This is done and done, but never really done. I am a full supporter of using Twitter to connect with different people (this could mean celebs, or just people you have shared interests). It is a fun and easy way to talk and connect with people you would otherwise likely never talk to. Also, there is an indescribable feeling attained when a celeb favorites, retweets, or replies to your message. I would liken it to that feeling you got as a child when you received a reply to fan letter. Like that time I got a Christmas postcard from Mary-Kate and Ashley - I thought I was going to die a full and wonderful life at that moment.

4) Get lost in a '90s marathon - This happens almost every week.

5) Throw a Girl Meets World viewing party - This is going to happen, I do not have cable but I will find a way.

6) Start a '90s book club - ideas for said book club

7) Go on a '90s cruise - Sadly, this is probably not going to happen because I cannot afford a regular cruise, let alone a celeb booze cruise. Also, these things sell out super fast! If anyone wants to invest in making this dream come true, I accept checks and cash

8) Throw a '90s costume party - So much fun, pictures to come.

I have also decided to add new resolutions to this early list, since the best way to feel good about a to-do list is to add stuff to it that you have already completed!

9) See a taping of a show staring a '90s favorite - last November I went with friends to a taping of Melissa & Joey and had a minor heart attack seeing Joey Lawrence and Melissa Joan Hart in all their glory. First off, the show is surprisingly fun and I highly recommend it to all looking for a quick laugh and/or want to see Joey Lawrence in tight pants (FYI they look way tighter in real life) and Melissa Joan Hart in enviable dresses (admiring professional wear is nothing to be embarrassed about). However, since that was 2013 and this list is 2014, I had to find a way to top that!
BAM!

Check it, I got to check off two resolutions at once! This totally makes up for the fact that my only regret in life is never seeing a taping of Boy Meets World. I can now live regret-free!
And here is a blurry picture of Ben Savage from that marvelous evening.

10) Randomly run into a '90s star (or two) at a bar in Los Angeles - oh heyyyyyy Todd Bosley and Marcus Toji

What are your '90s resolutions?! I am open to new suggestions to keep this list growing; afterall, I am quite near finished with it and the summer has not even commenced.

Stop Acting Crazy And Just Let Dylan Sprouse Show You To Your Table

Amanda Bynes starts a fire in some poor ladies driveway, Lindsay Lohan has been in and out of jail and rehab more times than I can count (it is cool though, because she has been scared straight and is turning her life around. We are rooting for you LINDSAY!) and people are making a big deal about former child star, Dylan Sprouse, working a "normal" job as a host at a restaurant?

What is the world coming to that normal behavior among "celebrities" makes them crazy?

Here is the thing, Dylan Sprouse (and his twin brother Cole Sprouse) are 21-year-old college students. They opted out of transitioning into adult roles (meaning, playing child/teen roles when you are actually an adult) and instead headed to New York to to live a normal college life of social media addictions, studying, working, and playing video games.

Instagram "Whoops! Sat on my brother! LUL #duckface #brother #cute #friday #whoopssaturday #sitting #accident #lolstagram #selfies! #puppies"

I applaud the Sprouse brothers for thus far avoiding scandal, even though they spent the entirety of their childhood and teen years in the mixed up world of Hollywood. The fact that these two, at 21-years-old, are without a criminal record, questionable video or photo, and have not visited rehab is pretty impressive and I think that sort of responsibility deserves a promotion to manager!

Dylan did take to Tumblr to respond to the circulating photos and rumors that he was in some financial situation or must have hit rock bottom to be working at a restaurant!
So many pictures have gotten out that I’m now working as a host at a restaurant in NY. To clear up the air (which is admittedly pretty rude), I did not take this job because I “lost all my money”, I am financially secure, and took this job as a way to primarily feed my over bountiful video game addiction. I also too this as a way to try a new experience, working somewhat below the means I’m used to, as well as a way to socialize and get out of the house. I feel most comfortable when I’m working and doing something, to criticize someone of that is pretty odd. I will potentially return to acting someday, but in no way do I think any experience is a step down for me, but rather a new step in another direction.

Of course, the Daily Mail reports (and by reports, I mean speculates based on absolutely no evidence) that "Former Disney star forced to deny he's broke after being photographed working as restaurant host, saying the job allows him to 'get out of the house'"

Here is the thing that bothers me about this story, aside from him having a job at a restaurant, what is your proof that he is broke? A look at any of his social media accounts Twitter, Tumblr or Instagram, present Dylan as a both a fun loving jokester who loves video games and is pursuing a degree in it, he is a self-proclaimed "Child actor who didn't do meth" and an astute observer of media and a critic of media/Hollywood and the role it plays in our society. All in all, he seems pretty well balanced and level headed. There is no evidence that would somehow insinuate he is struggling in his choice to not pursue acting, so stop the gossip Daily Mail and do some actual research next time. Social media is a goldmine!

You know who else ditched Hollywood for college, and turned out alright? My future husband, Joseph Gordon-Levitt. And explained his decision and the smartest thing he has ever done: "I just wanted to, sort of, do a normal-kid college thing, and I moved here to New York, I went to Columbia, and didn’t act for, like, two years. And it was one of the smartest things I’ve ever done, I think, actually."

And look at Mr. JGL, big time actor, writer AND director (triple threat!) with his new movie Don Jon.

Who knows, Dylan Sprouse might be the JGL of the '00 Disney Tweens.

If you are one of those Disney Tweens, hoping to make dreams come true with Mr. Sprouse, I recommend this little read, Dylan Sprouse pretty much outlines how NOT to act if you want to date him. Read it. Study it.

Happy 2013

Happy 2013!

We are nearly 1/12 of the way through the year and I have not updated. This is no bueno. After making a mental note that "this year, my new year's resolution will be to write regularly" I have let 26 days pass with no writing.

Alas, I am off to a late start; however, that does not mean I have failed. I shall not give up on this goal.

The truth is, I have had a very action packed January that has included an amazing Thrilling Adventure Hour with super awesome guest stars, a hilarious night of comedy featuring Rob Delaney, and a 4-day trip to Park City to check out the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. So, there is much to be written and shared.

Unfortunately, now is not the time to jump into all the details. I shall have more later this week, but for now you can check out Twitter and Instagarm for details and pictures. You can also catch up on all my Flashback posts on Socialitelife.com.
