Video: Tom Hanks on Toddlers and Tiaras

I'm gonna pretend that this is the only celebrity news blog you read and so sometimes, like now, I might decide to post "old news" because it has resurfaced in my life or because I was never exposed to it since this is the only blog I read.

So here is a hilarious video that premiered on Jimmy Kimmel in February of Tom Hanks doing a parody to Toddlers & Tiaras.

"It feels like a Bratz doll! Ohhhh, you look just like a Bratz doll!"
"Sweet pretty losers, every one of them."

I love Tom Hanks. He is one of only a small number of actors in Hollywood who has not disappointed me with sex scandals, family drama, or bad movie after bad movie. When your great movies out number your horrible movies, you are doing alright in my book. Keep doing that thing you do (<- obvious reference to one of my top three favorite Tom Hanks movies). It also helps that he grew up in the Bay Area and attended Skyline High School in OAK-land!

It All Ends in 6 days

Friday is the day It All Ends for Harry Potter. Unless, JK Rowling decides to write a new magical book...but that's just dreams.

Some of my favorite underappreciated people in Hollywood attended the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 premiere in London this last week, and I think now is a perfect time to give them some love.

Bryan Fuller, creator of such underappreciated shows as: Pushing Daisies and Wonderfalls. Seriously, if you have not watched those series yet, you best make plans this weekend or next because another week or day without these shows in your life will make for a very sub-par life.

AND

Mae Whitman, angsty teen on the current NBC family drama Parenthood. My appreciation for this talented young lady started when I was just a young, TV obsessed teen and she was playing the spoiled and lonely rich girl, Emma Grace, on State of Grace. I don't remember much about the show except that it took place in the 1960s (I love shows that take place in a different time then present), it also stared Alia Shawkat (aka Maeby Funke) as a Jewish girl attending the same Catholic school as Grace, and for some reason I loved it.
Mae was also Ann in seasons 2 and 3 of Arrested Development (alongside Alia Shawkat), and she voiced Katara in Avatar: The Last Airbender (the amazing cartoon series, not the disappointing film). Avatar: The Last Airbender is seriously one of my favorite cartoons. That and Phineas and Ferb have restored my faith in Nickelodeon and Disney animated series.

Ok, now let's please get back Harry Potter. If you have not already, you should totally watch the 8 scenes from Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 released this week. They will make you giddy and excited for the worldwide release July 15. I assume you all have your tickets. I purchased my tickets to see the final movie at the same theatre I watched the first one way back when; the circle will be completed.

Although my heart is filled with joy and breaks when I think about the Harry Potter movies ending (and am reminded that the book series ended in 2007), I'm finding ways to keep the series alive in my life.

Unfortunately, the beautiful green wallet my friend purchased for me while she was in "East Asia" has met its doom. It was a sad day when I realized this fact. However, the day was made slightly better when I found this rather tweenysomething wallet in the discount bin at Hot Topic.

What kind of aunt would I be if I didn't purchase things representing stuff I love for my nephew to promote? The answer is, a horrible aunt. I can't be a horrible aunt. I'd rather that title go to one of his other aunts.

What are you doing to prepare for the end?

Who Am I?

The game: guess my celebrity mom and/or dad

Hint:
1) Mommy and Daddy are both musicians
2) My eccentric style was most likely inherited from my mom who has been making fashion statements since she walked in spiderwebs in the 90s.

This is the first picture to not be from Twitter. It's not my norm, but he was too cute to pass up. The picture was taken from SOCIALITELIFE.COM, so head over there to find the answer.

Do Big Names Make Big Movies?

Do big names in a movie necessarily mean the movie will be a box office smash?

Ben Affleck is gearing up to start work on his new film, Argo, and the cast so far includes John Goodman (Roseanne, but more importantly Sulley from Monsters, Inc.), Alan Arkin (grandpa/dad in Little Miss Sunshine and Sunshine Cleaning), and Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad, also the dad from Malcolm in the Middle). The cast list is far from complete, but there is still buzz that, with Affleck starring and directing in it, it could be a huge hit.

Here is my question to you, do you think the names are important in the success of a movie/show/play? Take for example, Valentine's Day. That movie had a little bit of everyone in it, but overall I felt that it disappointed.

In a semi related note, but mostly in an attempt to plug my own work, check out the adorable pictures of Ben Affleck, Jennifer Garner, and daughters Violet and Seraphina spending some quality time together.

Pink Gushes Over New Daughter, Willow Sage

In case you haven't realized through my 'Who Am I?' segment, I love when celebrities gush about their children over social media sites. Pink is the latest victim of said gushing. Case in point:

I hope Willow Sage gets a spot on 'Who Am I?' soon, I bet she's a cutie. To read more about Pink and find out why she picked the name Willow Sage, head on over to SOCIALITELIFE.COM to read my fabulous post.

Sunday Review...Las Vegas weekend

A Sunday review for you this holiday weekend.

Scott Disick and Kourtney Kardashian have a night out without little Mason. The pair was totally MIA for Khloe's Vegas birthday party
, and this time around they are without the Kardashian posse. Are Scott and Kourtney totally breaking away from the Kardashian gravitational pull?
Here is the Alice & Olivia leather dress Kourtney wore to the event

Doesn't that girl know Las Vegas is way too hot in the summer for leather to be anything but uncomfortable, especially when you are partying.

Also in Las Vegas this weekend, Gretchen Rossi of The Real Housewives of Orange County. Haven't heard of her? That's probably because you have better taste in TV than RHOOC. It's cool, I totally understand, I'd pick Disney over Bravo any day.

All this talk of Las Vegas makes me really want to go to Las Vegas. Road trip anyone?

Music: Loud Music by Michelle Branch

"'Cause you're everywhere to me
and when I close my eyes it's you I see..."

This week's Who Am I was inspired by a recent desire to pop in my Michelle Branch CDs and listen.

Michelle Branch reminds me of summer, Arizona, and my aunt Holly. It was the summer of 2002, I was living with my aunt in Arizona, and that summer I would become obsessed with Sorority Life on MTV. Michelle Branch's song "You Get Me" was the theme song, so naturally the memories of that summer are triggered when I hear her sing. Needless to say, that show, and by association Michelle Branch, are the main reasons I considered UC Davis for college (though only as a second choice school) and are the reason I pledged a sorority in college. (sidenote: the awesome people in my sorority are the reason I stayed)

Alas, with the summer heating up, my aunt Holly out visiting from Arizona, and Michelle Branch popping up on my twitterfeed, my yearning for some of her music has resurfaced. Fortunately, she has new music coming out so I can mix some of the oldies (but goodies) with some of the new tunes.

Here is to another summer of listening to Michelle Branch.
