I Love And Hate Glee

I remember thinking when Glee premiered, "LOVE THIS SHOW!" Then Fox played this great tease on fans by waiting months before the fall premiere and did all that crappy scheduling during American Idol season. Ugh, those jerks. I'm pretty sure the scheduling people at Fox knew exactly what they were doing when they introduced it, took it away, brought it back, took it away again, brought it back ... All the teasing made us want it even more, and now I find myself watching it week after week with friends, despite the fact that I'm utterly disappointed with the characters, the story lines, and the messages the show is sending.

For the record, this post contains spoilers, so if you have not seen the most recent episode and you like surprises, you should probably stop reading.

Let me begin by saying that Coach Beiste is the character I have the least qualms with, and I actually find her story lines to be the most real and relate-able. Expressing your emotions for the first time is hard. Additionally, I find flirting to be awkward, and I generally fail at it in a big way.

That being said... Santana, could you please stop being such a bitch and just get over yourself? I'm not trying to be insensitive to the fact that she is struggling with her sexuality, I merely am so tired of the writers making her more and more mean with each episode. The show tries to be anti-bullying (remember when Kurt felt forced to leave McKinley for his safety last season - the best story line the show produced last season), yet they make their characters into the most unlikable and harshest bullies I have ever seen. The worst part is that, every time Santana has an "Awwww" moment, later in that episode or by the next episode, she has reverted back to her "I hate everyone except Brittany" personality that totally isolates her from the group.

Then there is Quinn. The poor teen mom who gave her daughter up for adoption and now is trying to steal her daughter back, and will do anything, including plant false evidence, to make that happen. Yeah, umm...great role model.

As for the adoptive mother of Quinn's baby, Ms. Corcoran, aka Rachel Berry's biological mother, this thing you are doing with Puck, NOT OK! Seriously? What is with shows promoting student teacher relations that are way inappropriate? Anyone seen Pretty Little Liars? That show has another student-teacher relationship story line and I'm just trying to understand when THAT became so common that it is now included on hit Teen shows. I mean, Mr. Schu is already pushing the line with student teacher relations the way he coaches, but at least he has stood firm on the no dating or sexual relations with a student rule.

Ok, and can we rewind to when Artie got waaaaaaaaay to power hunger as director and straight out told Rachel and Blaine that they need to lose their virginity if they ever want to be successful in West Side Story. Not good advice! Furthermore, asking a teacher at your school if she is a virgin, NOT OK! Shesh, these shows are confusing the role of teacher and friend and can I say that, as an educator, the two are not the same. Teachers are not suppose to be your friend, they are an adult that you respect and hopefully trust, but they are not your friend. Teachers that try too hard to be friends with their students end up losing control of the class, I see it every week.

Man, I miss the 90s. Remember how cute it was that Cory and Topanga waited until they were married to shack up, and how totally ok that show made it? Today, if you are a virgin in high school, let alone a virgin into your adult life, there is something wrong with you.

Shows like Glee, The Secret Life of An American Teenager, Pretty Little Liars, Gossip Girl, 90210, blah blah blah, they set horrible examples. They portray parents incapable of taking care of themselves let alone their teenagers, teenagers killing and then not facing consequences, teachers who date students, sex, sex, sex. There was not that much sex going on at my high school, seriously. Though, the teacher/student inappropriate relations that did happen, but still, it wasn't glorified, it destroyed families and people's career.

I would like to see the 90s return to TV. People were less Hollywood/more normal looking, more relate-able, and just overall better people. I watch them as adults and I still want to be their friend.

*Sigh*

Bob Miley Has Another Drug Scandal

As you may or may not know, Miley Cyrus had a fantabulous birthday a couple weeks ago and new BFF Kelly Osbourne hosted the event for the now old and wise 19-year-old. Can you believe how fast our little Hannah Montana has grown?

Unfortch, I couldn't make the event because I'm not in any of the Hollywood It-crowds (shocking, I know). Well one of the guests who is "supposedly" Miley's friend (or maybe he/she is a professional party crasher/celebrity rumor-mill worker) posted a video from the event where Miley seems to insinuate a love of pot. In reference to to her Bob Marley cake, Miley laughed, "You know you’re a stoner when your friends make you a Bob Marley cake. You know you smoke way too much [wash yo mouth out with soup Ms. Cyrus] weed!" Then Ms. Osbourne remarks, "I thought salvia was your problem," a reference to a hil-a-rious video of Miley partaking in some legal drugs. Everyone at the party laughed and it was a jolly good time.

Well friends, drugs are no joke and therefore no laughing matter.

Since it wouldn't be November without some Cyrus related drama, people are attacking the video and the message it sends to Miley's young fans. Phesh, as if young people care about her anymore. They have probably already moved onto the next Disney sitcom. It is the adults who care because we like to judge other people.

Well, I just want you all to know, IT WAS A JOKE! Miley doesn't really smoke weed, though there is video of her puffing salvia so you can't deny that. Thank Twitter for Twitter! Kelly Osbourne took to Twitter to defend Miley

let me make something very clear after @MileyCyrus salvia incident we started calling her bob miley as a JOKE! the cake was also A JOKE! it makes me sick that @MileyCyrus so called 'friends' would sell her out and lead people 2 believe she is someone that she is not! u guys if @MileyCyrus is not recording/filming/touring she is works everyday how could she possible do all that if she was a stoner! #think

Ok y'all! Think before you judge next time.

A Day In The Life Of Me

This is what normally happens throughout my day...

Me, reading Twitter, "I should totally write a blog about this." "I HAVE to share this picture." And, "that Evanna Lynch is too funny. I could dedicate a whole blog to her tweets."

Then I browse some of my usual entertainment news sites, "Love this, must share." "I wondered what became of him/her, I wonder if I can dig up more and share." And "Funny videos, I love funny videos!"

It is all quite fun and lovely. Then I sit down and think about writing and, because the selections are so numerous, I start to re-evaluate what I found funny at 1am the night before. I reconsider in an attempt to narrow the field. Suddenly, nothing is interesting anymore.

In school, I always hated when a teacher did not provide a topic for us (the students) to write and a well defined rubric to follow. That pattern follows me into real life. Here are posts I wrote for SocialiteLife.

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes take their love to Paris.

Reese Witherspoon takes her family to Disneyland.

Cory Monteith plays the role of Grand Marshal for Grey Cup Parade.

sidenote: did you know Canadians play a sport other than hockey? Today I learned football is also played and viewed, though it is no where near the popularity of hockey.

second sidenote: I accidently typed hickey and not hockey the first time I typed that.

third sidenote: Blogger keeps telling me accidently is spelled wrong and the number one suggestion to replace it is confidently. So...I confidently typed hickey and not hockey the first time I typed that.

Eureka Convention

On Saturday, I went to "Creation Entertainment Salutes Eureka and Warehouse 13" at the Marriott. Two conventions in less than one month *gasp* my nerdyness reaches new heights.

Instead of boring you with some long winded post on how my day went, I shall use pictures. I'm gonna go ahead and assume you all have watched Eureka, especially after I recommended it months ago, so please enjoy these photos of Niall Matter (no relation to Tow Mater), Colin Ferguson, and Deborah Farentino. There may or may not be some exaggeration in my details.

Scene 1:
The story begins when Niall takes questions from the audience, and he spots me.

Me: *tries to be cool and sound intelligent* Yes, well I remember Salli mentioning at Comic-con that she often went to Colin for help with understanding the technical terms in dialogue and the science behind the machines. Do you do any research on your lines, and if so what?
Niall stares intently
Me: Whew, is it hot in here or is that just me?
Niall: You are making this room hot.

Moderator: Well time is up, we must now clear the room for the next Q&A
Niall: damn you moderator *shakes fist in air*

Scene 2:
The evil Beverly Barlowe enters the room

Me: Yes, what was it like to kiss Colin?
Deborah: Honestly, I can't remember. That day was like a hazy dream. I love Colin.
Me: Stay away from Colin or I'll tell your husband!

Scene 3:
Colin enters the room

Niall couldn't stay away

Niall: Colin, you are so not the ladies man.

Me: Who was your favorite guest star and/or who would have been your dream actor or actress to work with?
Colin and Niall: You.

Me: Please, please, don't fight over me.

Breaking Dawn Part I Premiere!!!!

Tonight is the Black Carpet Premiere of Breaking Dawn Part I!

On this momentous day, I reminiscence...

Hard to believe that it was just two years ago that J and I showed our true Twilight colors by going to Westwood to hang outside Bruin - Westwood Village for the New Moon premiere.

And this is what I saw...

Of course, my shining moment was when this happened.

Doesn't matter how much I pretended to be cool, like this event was no big deal because I live in California and I've seen plenty of celebs, the moment Robert Pattinson passed, shaking hands and signing autographs, me and everyone around me lost it. I would have been scared for my life had I not been freaking out like a silly little girl.

Well, today is the "Black Carpet" Premiere of Breaking Dawn Part I, and I am currently covering the premiere from the comfort of my home. Way more comfortable and less time consuming, yet lacks the adrenaline and energy of the carpet premiere.

Check out photos and news from the event at SocialiteLife.com where I will be.

More All That Reunion Panel

Remember that time I went to the All That Reunion Panel at Comikaze? Yeah, that thing was all kinds of awesome. I posted videos to my youtube, you should check them out :)

Also, the moderator from the event compiled some videos from the panel and the autograph signing that basically lets you pretend you were there. Check out the video by BlackNerdyComedy

I love Josh Server, and isn't he looking all kinds of hot in his Gap cardigan? I don't actually know if it is Gap, but I went to Gap this weekend and saw a very similar cardigan and thought, "That mannequin ain't got the style Josh Server has." Then I got to fantisizing about how our family would look...

Our oldest boy is Walter the Earboy and our baby girl is Detective Dan(ielle). Aren't we adorbs?

It's 11/11/11 11:11, celebrate with Harry Potter!

In honor of DVD/blu-ray release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II (it's today, y'all!), some of the stars of the franchise are heading to Florida for a little family reunion.

Since I know most of you aren't in Orlando for the fabulous reunion, I bring you great news! You can watch the red carpet reunion from Wizarding World of Harry Potter, thanks to E!.

You can also check Twitter for pictures from some of the cast that will be at the event. My personal favorite is Evanna Lynch who plays Luna Lovegood. Not only is she a Pottermore Gryffindor which bascially makes us family, she is also appears delightfully entertaining and down-to-earth.

@Evy_Lynch Just got to the hotel!!! Look at all the free shit WB/universal gave me!!! Pottering myself out!!! #yeahfreeshit

See, even famous people love free stuff and get excited over Harry Potter merch. Evanna and I could totes be bff.

@Evy_Lynch I'm hooooooome!!!

I wish I was hooooooome!!! Alas, I shall live vicariously for now.

Here are some other tweets from her to support my statement of her being "delightfully entertaining and down-to-earth"

@Evy_LynchAnd Chamber of Secrets is on ABC. Aaaaaaand I'm totes watching it. You should all do likewise. #HarryPotterWeekend

@Evy_LynchApproximately 98% full of butterbeer. :) #IheartOrlando

Thrilling Adventure Hour, November 5

Dreams do come true!

Last weekend, between Comikaze, Angel and I had a wonderful evening at the theatre. The show for the night, Thrilling Adventure Hour, a 1940s radio-style show that had us laughing the better part of the evening. Best of all, it was done in musical format! What could be more awesome than people randomly bursting out in song? It's like High School Musical for adults, but with no dancing since it is radio.

Now, it is radio-style, but the audience still gets to see the performers interact and the fabulous orchestra perform. It is radio in the sense that set design is non existent, the show involves people gathering around a few mics on stage, and best of all you can sit at home and enjoy the show via podcast. Podcasts for Thrilling Adventure Hour are available at one of my favorite places, Nerdist.com.

The show features a bevy of actors and actresses as regular cast, including John diMaggio who voices Bender on Futurama, plus each month they book different guest performers. A semi-regular guest performer happens to be Nathan Fillion, Angel's true love.

In the November 5 show, He plays a young man smitten with his gal, Red (played by Busy Phillips). The two are adorable! Have I mentioned how much I love things that embody the 1940s-1960s? I'm talking the family dinner, Pleasantville, Grease, Wonder Years kind of stuff. I. LOVE. IT. So basically, this show is meant for me.

Fabulous point from the show, The Wonder Years reference in Act 2's Beyond Belief segement. Sad note, Fred Savage was a previously confirmed guest star, but a couple weeks before it was sadly announced that he and another would not be able to make the show. On the other hand, Jason Ritter did play a delightful Kevin Arnold-ish character.

So beautiful. If he was my child's teacher, I would SO date him. That is, assuming I am unattached. And he is unattached. I ain't no homewrecker.

Other performers we stalked to photograph:
Simon Helberg

Linda Cardellini (who happens to be an adorable pregnant woman)

And, in the audience, Jane Espenson
I met Jane Espenson at Comic-Con when I was in line for the Joss Whedon signing, and I basically decided at that moment that she is awesome. She was awesome long before than, but I didn't really know of her existence until then and she was a seriously down-to-earth, giddy about science fiction person, and I loved it. Check her out on IMDb and discover the awesome writer/producer that is: Jane Espenson.

I have already purchased our tickets to the December show, featuring guests Nathan Fillion, Josh Molina, Colin Hanks, and Gillian Jacobs. *whhheeeeeeee*

Who Loves Orange Soda?

Kel loves orange soda.
Is it true?
I do, I do, I dooooOOOO!

Oh snaps! Check me out with Kel Mitchell. Admit it, you're jealous. Go ahead, photoshop your head over mine and pretend like it is you. Imagine Kel telling you "Kel loves orange soda!" and then experience pure joy when he signs your orange soda bottle.

Let me be honest, I was completely unprepared for the All That reunion and autograph signing on day 1 of Comikaze. I had nothing to get signed (as if I don't have an old Tiger Beat pin up of the cast buried in my closet) and the $10 a person signing is a steep price for one whose hourly wage is less than that. Also, I was basically giddy with tween emotions, I was a total fool. Oh, and Josh Server sporting that preppy cardigan had me drooling all over the place.

However, for day 2, I came prepared to meet and impress Kel, who was there promoting Asia Lee. And that I did. Other fans were totally jealous they didn't think of bringing orange soda for Kel to sign, I heard them oooh-ing and aaah-ing when I pulled out the bottle.

Then, when the photo time came, I insisted on taking the photo myself despite Asia Lee's offer. I have had practice with this, don't worry, I got this covered. Kel was impressed with my ability, he told me so, which obviously means he loves me and wants me to have his orange soda loving babies.

And look at how lovely that family will be.

Notice the Ed from Good Burger look, so dreamy <3

I Want To Marry Josh Server

Daylight Savings is providing me one extra hour of sleep tonight! However, before I take back the hour I lost last Spring, here is a video you might enjoy from today.

In case you lived without cable as a child, I hope that song sounds very familiar to you. Today I witnessed the All That reunion at Comikaze in Los Angeles and it was fabulous. More details later.

Full House Reunion in Full Blouse

New webseries, Can't Get Arrested had premiered. Now, let me tell you everything I know about this show (which is very little)
- it stars Dave Coulier (aka Uncle Joey)
- features Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie Tanner) and Dennis Haskins (Mr. Belding)
- Candace Cameron Bure is supposedly in a future episode, thus forming a near Full House reunion

Check it out

Justin Bieber Baby Scandal

Rather than recounting the ridiculous allegations and story behind the supposed Justin Bieber paternity scandal, I shall let Jimmy Fallon do the talking. Watch "(It's not my) Baby" and giggle over the sillyness of it all.

And, in case you are wondering, here is Justin Bieber's reaction to the rumors:
@JustinBieber "so Im going to ignore the rumors...and focus on what is real. an opportunity to help by doing what i love. Judge me on the music! Love yall!"

Now, I like to believe the accused is innocent until proven guilty so I'm gonna assume this is some desperate girls attempt at fame and fortune until there is some legit evidence. Like, a baby picture that features a young child with side swooped bangs, or a video of the baby singing "Baby" will suffice.

What do you think, did JB father a child?

Neil Patrick Harris + gorgeous David Burtka + babies = adorable!

Time for an adorable picture of the Neil Patrick Harris family in costume!

Seriously, that hubby/boyfriend/baby daddy of NPH is gorgeous. Like, I love NPH, but when I see David Burtka I think, "woah! That man makes NPH look average!"

Who Am I?

In honor of Monday being Halloween, Tuesday being All Saints Day, and today being All Souls' Day, we have a special Who Am I? :O

Guess the famous face under the face paint!

Don't let the paint scare you, I'm pretty sure the man beneath the paint is a quite lovely person and you probably crushed on him at some point, especially in your high school years. He stole my heart when he took Jamie Sullivan to the stateline. Gah! Tears erupt just thinking of that movie :,(

He currently stars on a CW drama (CW drama is redundant, I know) in which he plays some character I don't know because I haven't watched the CW in a very long time. However, I do know that Devon Sawa has guest starred on the show and the two have a very obvious bromance over Twitter.

Kim Kardashian Apologizes For Following Her Heart

As you have probably heard, the fairy tale of Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries was too good to be true. It's not their fault, not everyone can be Khloe and Lamar.

All joking aside, Kim wrote a message to her fans on her blog explaining why she did what she did and assuring her fans that it was all for love, not money. Also, she answers the very important question, what is gonna happen with all those wedding gifts?

A Message To My Fans
November 1, 2011
This is probably the hardest thing I’ve ever had to write. I see all of the support and I am so thankful for my fans, friends and family who are helping me through this difficult time.

I am trying not to read all the different media reports but it’s hard not to see all the negative ones. First and foremost, I married for love. I can’t believe I even have to defend this. I would not have spent so much time on something just for a TV show! I share so much of my life on a reality show, that contemplating whether to even film my wedding was a tough decision to make, and maybe it turned out to not be the smartest decision. But it’s who I am! We filmed Kourtney giving birth, Khloe getting married, break ups, make ups, our best moments and our worst moments. These were all real moments. That’s what makes us who we are. We share, we give, we love and we are open!

Everyone that knows me knows that I’m a hopeless romantic! I love with all of my heart and soul. I want a family and babies and a real life so badly that maybe I rushed in to something too soon. I believed in love and the dream of what I wanted so badly. I felt like I was on a fast roller coaster and couldn’t get off when now I know I probably should have. I got caught up with the hoopla and the filming of the TV show that when I probably should have ended my relationship, I didn’t know how to and didn’t want to disappoint a lot of people.

I’m being honest here and I hope you respect my courage because this isn’t easy to go through. But I do know that I have to follow my heart. I never had the intention of hurting anybody and I accept full responsibility for my actions and decisions, and for taking everyone on this journey with me. It just didn’t turn out to be the fairy tale I had so badly hoped for.

There are also reports that I made millions of dollars off of the wedding. These reports are simply not true and it makes me so sad to have to even clarify this. I’m so grateful to everyone who took the time to come to my wedding and I’ll be donating the money for all the gifts to the Dream Foundation.

I’m sorry if I have hurt anyone, but my dad always told me to follow my heart and I believe now that I really am.

What do you think?

Netflix Time Wasters, The Wonder Years

Oh little Kevin Arnold and Winnie Cooper, how your 12-year-old romance makes me smile.

A few weeks ago, I discovered The Wonders Years had been added to Netflix's Instant Queue. I immediately celebrated.

I forgot how much I love Fred Savage, and how great this show is until I started watching it again on Netflix. The Winnie and Kevin young love is just too adorable at times. Fortunately, romance aside, the show is a great reflection of how I imagine the late 1960s and early 1970s to be. From Kevin's hippie older sister to his stern and unsmiling father, everything about this show is charming and quaint. In fact, I imagine that, had I grown up in the 1960s/1970s, my family would look very much the same.

Here is how I see it: my older and younger sisters would be hippies (despite the general typecasting of me as the hippie in this family) because they are rebellious and quirky, respectively, which fits Karen Arnold; my older and younger brother are stellar in the role of pestering and annoying brother, so they were really made for the role of Wayne Arnold; my dad was raised in the military so he can successfully play stern and he rarely smiles, he is like a modern day Jack Arnold; lastly, as a teacher in California, my mom is currently unemployed so she is getting great practice as the stay-at-home mom/wife, hello Mrs. Arnold! Obviously, I'd be a female version of Kevin because this is my life so only I could have the starring the role. It'd be like if Winnie were Kevin and then Kevin were Winnie.

I forget what my point was with that last bit...To conclude, The Wonders Years is one show definitely worthy of consuming your evenings before bed and your freetime on the weekends.
