Luna Lovegood Is A Gryffindor

I know I have said it before, but I will say it again, Evanna Lynch is one awesome Harry Potter star/fan, and a worthwhile tweeter to follow.

Here is the most recent tweet that got me thinking, "why isn't Evanna Lynch my BFF?"
@Evy_Lynch That awkward moment when your bro asks you can he have your Gryffindor boxers. But he can't cos you're saving them for your future hubby. :o

Evanna Lynch, the actress who plays the eccentric and wise Luna Lovegood (a true Ravenclaw), is a Gryffindor. I absolutely support that. One of the comments to her tweet reads "@abandon_hip: @Evy_Lynch You're my favorite because you're just as big a Potterhead as the rest of us. <3" and it is true!

The advantage she has is that, as a star of the franchise, she gets to go to all the parties and premieres. I shall continue to live vicariously through her.

Tom Felton Is In Los Angeles!

Tom Felton is in L.A., y'all! You know what this means, right? There is a great deal of In 'n Out in Tom Felton's future...and perhaps mine as well.

Aside from my nephew learning to walk, this is the best news I've heard all week.

Tom and his pup, Timber, have made it safely to Los Angeles. Thank you very much, British Airways.

Tom Felton makes for an adorable worried parent. Via Twitter, he shared his anxiety of handing Timber over to British Airways, sought words of encouragement from fellow travelers with pets, and, after they landed, exhibited a great deal of stress over not knowing where she was once they landed.

Two hours after they landed, he tweeted: "So we landed safely 2 hours ago....but still no sign of timber! C'mon BA give me back my dog! Where is she?! getting v.anxious x" British Airways tried to settle his nerves by reassuring Tom that everything was going to be ok, "@British_Airways: @TomFelton Hi Tom. We understand your concern but please be patient. You'll be reunited with Timber soon."

Fortunately, the two were eventually reunited and Tom shared his gratitude to British Airways for taking such good care of her: "Thanks again @British_Airways for taking such good care of my dog over such a long journey! X"

His deep concern and love for his dog make him exponentially more attractive.

After a stressful day of travel, the two are now getting settled into their hotel which, according to Tom, is the "Best hotel ever!"

It's true, look what they made for Timber:

And here is the first-time traveler enjoying her first American meal.
@TomFelton Eager to report my hound is healthy and happy. She's living it up LA style, room service dog food. Boo yah indeed x

Guess Who

Time for your favorite guessing game!

Which little celebrity baby is "not really sure how she feels about solids" according to her mom's Twitter?

She has an older sister who has been featured with their dad on here.

Teen Dream Revisited: Scott Weinger

Most recognizable in my mind as D.J. Tanner's jock boyfriend who is always eating on Full House, Scott Weinger was an under appreciated 90s teen dream. I mean seriously, how many of you read the name in the title and thought, "Who?"

If you aren't familiar with his role in Full House then you should be ashamed of yourself. However, fortunately for you, he had an even more recognizable role!

Like fellow Teen Dream, JTT, Scott also lent his voice to Disney where he voiced the beloved street-rat turned prince, Aladdin. I had have the major hots for Aladdin and it is probably about 90% because when
I hear him:

I see him:

Supposedly, he does all the voice-over work for Aladdin: the movies, the shows, and all the many variations of video games, so if you ever want to reminisce you know where to find him :)

Also like some of his 90s counterparts, Scott stepped away from Hollywood for a bit to pursue higher education. Remember when he left Full House, wasn't that sad? However, I'm pretty sure I peed my pants when he showed up in the finale to take DJ to prom. *swoon*

The man who played the goofy jock on Full House went on to attend Harvard, where, according to his IMDb page, he graduated magna cum laude in 1998. Man, the 90s (well, technically the 80s/70s) really produced some amazing men. Will this generation of kids be as fortunate when it comes to Teen Dreams?

So what is Scott doing today?

He is still in Hollywood, though he now spends most of his time locked up in a writing room. Did any of you catch tonights 90210 episode? If not, you might consider watching it to show some support since that episode was written by Scott! He is currently on the 90210 writing staff, and has written previously for Privileged and What I Like About You.

If you want more information on what Scott is doing, follow his (unverified) Twitter @ScottWeinger

'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II' Gets Some Oscar Nods, But Not The Big One

Oscar nominations were just released and guess which movie didn't make the Best Picture category...Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II. There are 10 movies in that category, I mean the Academy is practically giving away the nods to everyone at that rate, but not to the magnificently produced and directed highest grossing film of 2011. I'm sure those other films are lovely movies that deserve the nomination; however, having seen none of the nominations, I can say with honesty that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II is the best movie I saw and thus deserves a nomination in my book. At least they have the People recognizing their talent!

On the bright side, the movie did get some nominations: Best Art Direction, Best Makeup, and Best Visual Effects.

And, because I love a reason a to talk about Tom Felton, let's transition. Planet of the Apes Rise of the Apes is also up for Best Visual Effects so yay to Mr. Tom Felton for being in 2/5 visually pleasing movies.

Today is a VERY big day for Mr. Felton. First Oscar nominations, and now he must anxiously prepare his dog Timber for her first plane ride! Check out Tom's adorable overreaction to the situation via Twitter:
Big day for my dog tomorrow @British_Airways please look after her! She's very timid & friendly and it's her first ever flight!
More than a little anxious about Timber's first flight tomorrow! Bless her all cooped up in a crate. She seems very relaxed about it all x
Thinking about fashioning and installing some sort of walkie talkie system between me and the crate, then I can talk to her on the flight! x
"timber this is your captain speaking. Please keep all paws inside the crate and all times,Refreshments will be served in the bowl"
"no iPods during take off or landing, I know what your like! If you need anything just bark. Enjoy the flight" x

Dog lovers everywhere are swooning right now. Heck, I'm not even a dog lover but I'm considering becoming one for Tom Felton. And, because no post complete without a photo, here is a picture of Tom's dog taken on a nice winter's day.

@TomFelton Lovely morning for a crisp Christmas morning walk. I Have sacrificed my scarf to a higher purpose :) x

Happy Birthday Jodie Sweetin, aka Stephanie Tanner

January 19th, 2012 will forever be the day Stephanie Tanner turned 30 years old, and all of us felt the pain of realizing just how very old we are becoming.

ISN'T THAT CRAZY?

First of all, I always felt like she was so much older than me and Michelle Tanner, so how is it that I hear 30 and think, "Oh, I'll be there soon." Secondly, when did any of us become adults because I'm pretty sure we are all still the exact same age as we were when Full House ended. Wait a minute, in my mind Full House never ended, so how could Stephanie be 30 when I saw her the other day and she was just 14 years old?

Well, regardless of what I think, Jodie Sweetin is indeed 30 years old now, and she celebrated last night with some friends. Uncle Joey jammed on his harmonica at the event, isn't that just soooo Joey Gladstone?

The rest of the Tanner family appears to have been absent from the event. My guess is that Michelle was off with Teddy getting crunk in the East Bay (because the East Bay is obviously superior in terms of crunkiness than SF). Uncle Jesse is off on his 'Jesse and the Rippers' Reunion tour in Asia. DJ couldn't find a babysitter for her kids and her husband, Steve, is off touring with Uncle Jesse. Aunt Becky and Danny were 'working' until late on their show. As for the twins, those two are way too cool to be seen at a Tanner-sponsored event; besides, they were too busy washing their hair last night to make an appearance. As for Kimmy Gibler, Stephanie always hated that one so it is very unlikely she was invited though it is very possible to party crashed.

The Tanners of the 2010s are not the same Tanners you wanted to adopt you in the early 90s. Why? Why must things change?

Although, if you'd like to see more Uncle Joey and Stephanie, you can check them out on the web-series Can't Get Arrested.

Netflix Time Wasters, Sherlock

A friend of mine recently began a campaign to get as many friends as possible to watch the BBC crime drama, Sherlock. She practically took up a part-time job of promoting the show and having viewing parties to ensure that her friends were indeed watching. Since this friend has proved herself to have great taste in television, I went along to one of these viewing problems parties to see for myself what the big deal was.

The show is a modern day remake of the Sir Arthur Conan Doyle detective, Sherlock Holmes, and his friend Dr. John Watson. Described as "A New Slueth For The 21st Century," the show follows Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) as he works with Scotland Yard's detective Lestrade. Watson (Martin Freeman) is an Afghan war veteran who immediately forms a partnership with the sociopath Holmes, despite being advised otherwise by a Scotland Yard officer. Just as before portrayed, the duo work together to determine who and/or what is behind some of London's biggest crimes.

The show just finished airing its second series on BBC and is renewed for a third, and potentially final season, to air in 2013. The first series, which consists of three, one and a half hour episodes, is available on Netflix. The second series will air in America on PBS in Spring 2012. The benefit of having less episodes per series is that the content is concentrated rather than dissipated, and thus you are forced to pay attention to the details.

I hate to sound un-American, but the British really are much better at creating series that are thoughtful, intelligent, and captivating. Add to that the fact that British actors are just on a totally different level in terms of skill and character development, and it becomes very obvious that this show is well deserving of the 2011 BAFTA award fro Best Drama Series.

Check it out! And, if you are fans of The Lord of the Rings, get excited because both Cumberbatch (Holmes) and Freeman (Watson) will be in the new Hobbit films. Of course, Freeman might already be familiar to some for his role as John, the porn photo-double, on Love Actually.

Teen Dream Revisited: Jonathan Taylor Thomas (JTT)

photo from retrojunk.com

Devon Sawa, Andrew Keegan, and Jaleel White were idols not soon forgotten; however, the three of them combined had NOTHING on Jonathan Taylor Thomas/JTT when I was a pre-teen. I mean, sure I loved them all and I had wild fantasies of me ending up with each of them - separately, not like us living in some polygamous cult where I married each of them...although, the cult doesn't sound so bad - my heart was always more dedicated to JTT. I watched all his movies, including the voice over work he did for The Adventures of Spot, and, among other movies, I still own The Adventures of Pinocchio on VHS. Let's face it, JTT owned the 90's in movie and television.

Sadly for 90's day dreamers like myself, Mr. Thomas all but disappeared after he prematurely left Home Improvement in 1998 to go to college. I want to hate him for leaving, but I also want to love him more for choosing education. Unfortunately, after he walked away from the role of Randy Taylor, Jonathan only received guest-starring roles on shows such as Smallville, 8 Simple Rules, and Veronica Mars, but has not been able to come close to the fame he once had. Since 2005 he has all but disappeared.

In September 2011 EW did a Home Improvement reunion that brought JTT back to his television family.

Then, in early October, 2011, there were squeals of joy when a JTT account was added and later verified on Twitter.

Can you imagine? After years of wondering "what ever happened to JTT?" we would finally get some answers!

Alas, it was too good to be true.

A short time after verification was complete, Danielle Fishel (aka Topanga Matthews) took to Twitter to retract her initial support of the user and to assure her followers that she had just spoken with JTT and he shared that he was not on Twitter. She and Devon Sawa had both shared tweets with the JTT account, but now they were both saying it is not the real Jonathan but some poser! *gasp* How rude!

Twas a sad, sad day for me. On the bright side, Danielle Fishel still happens to be friends with Mr. Young Simba, and so we shall just have to settle for updates from her, such as the following picture posted to her Twitter on October 20, 2011.
Look who went with me to see @worstaudition last night! Me, Jonathan, and the gorgeous Christine Lakin. http://twitpic.com/7350gu

Harry Potter Wins PCA And Daniel Radcliffe Hosts SNL

At the 2012 People's Choice Awards, the final movie of the Harry Potter franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II, won four awards including: Favorite Movie, Action Movie, Ensemble Cast, and Book Adaptation.

Interestingly enough, despite the four Harry Potter stars nominated in the under 25 category: Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, and Tom Felton; the award went to the fifth nominee, Chloe Moretz. Well, you can't win them all. I suppose I'm glad none of the Harry Potter stars beat out the others because no one wants to see in-house fighting. Sadly, none of the fabulous four nominated attended the event and thus there are no photos from the event. Therefore, I'll just post this old Twitter picture of Tom Felton and Daniel Radcliffe from last summers U.S. promotions of DHPII.

Speaking of Daniel Radcliffe, did you all catch him hosting Saturday Night Live this last weekend? Thank Hulu, for Hulu, so you can easily watch the full episode and catch the Harry Potter jokes that will NEVER get old.

Highlights from the episode: 10 year epilogue featuring a stuck-in-the-past Harry Potter caught up in his glory days at Hogwarts, Buggy the cashier obsessed Target employee, and the You Can Do Anything sketch which accurately describes the problems with this generations self-obsessed children (yay us!). You can also catch Daniel Radcliffe kissing homeless bozos in a game of spin the bottle.

I can't get over how well adjusted and grateful the cast of Harry Potter is, makes me love the franchise even more.

In some other news, I've been obsessively dueling on Pottermore and am now ranked 8 in Gryffindor house, HOLLA!

Don't pretend like you aren't impressed.

Happy New Year!

I realize it is already MLK Jr. Day and thus the new year is already 16 days begun, but remember, it is never too late for a new start.

January = awards shows!

That's right, it is that time of the year where celebrities congregate in one place thus forcing us normal looking people into a spiral of diminishing self-esteem. On the bright side, it is also that awkward time of the year when you learn who really is a good/bad actor/actress based on the reaction to winning and/or losing an award. That was a lot of back slashes, my apologies.

To begin this wonderful season of designer dresses, fake smiles, and horrid diets, check out this slideshow of Tweets from celebs at the 2012 Golden Globes last night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Rest assured, it is actually filled with more star-struck moments, real smiles, and photo bombs than that other depressing stuff.

Now, have you ever wondered what one does after winning a People's Choice Award?

The obvious answer might be, party it up at the after-parties! However, for Nina Dobrev, the PCA winner for Favorite TV Drama Actress for her role in The Vampire Diaries, the answer is grab a burger on the way out of town to get back to work. Poor girl had to be back in Georgia for filming and didn't even have time to change before hopping on a plane out of Los Angeles.
Notice how her dress matches the new layout of the website, nice!

As for Demi Lovato, my favorite little pop artist, she headed to Vegas the next morning where she then took a helicopter to the Grand Canyon.
It was a "so random" day for her (get it, So Random! hahaha, I crack myself up).

The best news from the People's Choice Awards is that Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II walked away a big winner! More on Harry Potter and Daniel Radcliffe coming soon :)
