Hugh Jackman and Jason Isaacs: Comic-Con 2011, day 1

My first day of Comic-Con has officially ended, and I'm tucking in early for another early day of waiting in lines, visiting panels, and collecting free stuff I'll probably never use. While the pins and comics will easily slip into the blackhole that is my room, the photos will keep the memories alive.

Here are some highlights from today (photos to follow later):
Hugh Jackman greeted fans after doing press for his new movie, Real Steel. That man is good looking. Wolverine greeted the crowd of fans with a heartfelt speech about how much he owes to his fans and how great we all are. Hear that, Hugh Jackman totally thinks I'm awesome, I am content.

Next up I swung by The Guild table where show creator (Felicia Day) and the cast were signing autographs. But why wait in line for an autograph when I can take pictures for freeeeeeeeeeeee! Still, Felicia Day totally makes me feel like I can be a nerd and proud. I hope to catch her tomorrow at the Eureka panel.

And lastly, I visited some panels in room 6A. I got to see a panel on music composition for tv which featured the producers and musical directors for Dexter, Falling Skies, and Avatar: The Last Airbender. I love that show and was greatly surprised when I learned I was sitting in a room where a panel featuring them. My original purpose was to see the Awake panel featuring Jason Isaacs (who voiced a character in Book 1 of Avatar), so when I got there early and chanced sitting through the prior panel, the day felt complete.

The Awake panel was great, despite the noticeable absence of Tom Felton. We got to watch the pilot episode and it was great. Jason Isaacs plays a man lost between dream and reality when he is in an accident that kills his wife and/or son. He lives to lifes, one in which his wife is killed and son survives, and the other in which his son is killed and wife survives. Unable to tell which is dream and which is reality, he struggles to come to terms with his situation. When he falls asleep in one life, he wakes up in the other. Meanwhile, he view back to work as a detective and must see a psychiatrist to help him deal with the grief. The only problem is that he has a different psychiatrist in each life and both have very compelling arguments on why their storyline is real and the other a dream.

The show was quite exciting and compels you to watch more to find out where the line separating dream and reality exists.

Who Am I?

The game: guess my celebrity mom and/or dad

Ok, I'm just giving it away for free now. Back to my Twitter roots, here is a picture of a brand new celebrity baby with her proud parents.

LA Just Got A Little Cooler

Thank you Tom Felton for giving me something more to dream about.

The man who I might as well dedicate this blog to has arrived in LA. I know not how long this stay will be nor do I know why he is in LA, what I do know is that after a poopy (that's right, I said it!!) day at work I could use some news like this.

Yes, I am aware that there are hundreds (well, thousands) of celebrities in LA at any given moment, but that doesn't stop me from celebrating.

Unfortunately, I doubt Mr. Hogwarts will make it to the 909 in the next day, and I doubt he'll come deliver pizza to me while I am stuck at a job I mostly loathe, BUT there is a glimmer of hope in my heart that maybe, just maybe, Tom Felton will make an appearance in San Diego at Comic-Con. There is an Awake (staring Jason Isaacs-- aka Lucius Malfoy) panel on Thursday that I hope to visit and I beleive that would be a perfect time to see the father-son duo! Oh dreams, how you both lift me up in hope and tearing me down in disappointment.

As a sidenote: In n Out is food SOOO overrated. Baker's all the way!!!!!!!

Tom Felton Appreciates Where He Came From

The Harry Potter posts continue!

This is partially because I realize this may be the only chance I have to do so since the movie franchise is now complete, but also because the series has kind of been a big part of my life. I've seen Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2, twice already and I am confident there will be many more movie watches and book readings as I refuse to say good-bye. I secretly dreamed of being an extra in one of the movies or in at least experiencing the hype and mayhem of a movie premiere, and yet all those dreams have been officially shattered. It is ok though, because I can live vicariously through the stars thanks to Twitter.

Tom Felton
recently shared a picture of him and original Harry Potter director, Chris Columbus. Tom had kind words to say about the man who directed the first two movies of the record shattering franchise.
i have everything to thank this guy for, chris was responsible for me being part of this epic journey x
I greatly appreciate that the stars seem very grateful for the experience they have had through the franchise, and it says a lot that the original cast has kept at it through the whole journey. The general lack of drama and scandal from the cast has been quiet refreshing and only adds to the appeal of the franchise.

In a semi related note, Tom also posted this picture of himself at a Five Guys Restuarant.
I'm waiting and waiting but no one has come to pick me up
And by semi-related note, I mean I had Five Guys for lunch today after a morning spent at the theatre watching Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2. Clearly, Tom and I are like meant for each other. Gah, I like this fellow. Alas, he is happily in a longterm relationship with a woman named Jade. Yet another dream of mine shattered. If you are interested in seeing her, she plays SPOILER ALERT wife to Draco in the epilogue of the series (that role came after thier relationship began, though I think I read on imdb that they did meet on set of an earlier HP movie).

Neville Longbottom Is All Grown Up

Mmmhmmm, doesn't Mr. Longbottom look grown up at the New York premiere? Thank you, @HarryPotterFilm for reminding us how these child actors have grown up to be quite attractive adults.

I used Neville Longbottom instead of Matthew Lewis's real name because I figure you'd be like, "Who is Matthew Lewis? Why should I know who this eye candy is?" By using Neville Longbottom, I believe all questions are answered. If you are now thinking, "psh, paaaahhh-leeeeez! I know who Matthew Lewis is!" Well then, I apologize for underestimating your Harry Potter fandom.

So in case you haven't noticed, Matthew Lewis is no longer the awkward first year always losing his frog and constantly being taunted or teased. No ma'am, in film and in real life, Matthew Lewis has grown up to be a pretty good looking English lad. Let's not forget how Neville plays a pretty important role in destroying he-who-must-not-be-named. If you want to see an even better picture of Matthew all grown up, check him out here. That sounds like I'm going to lead you to some porn site, but I promise it is just a link to imdb.

Now, since looks are totally superficial, let me take this opportunity to share with you why I crush on this young man, based entirely on his tweets.

He totally gets star struck: "In the British Airways lounge. Heading to New York shortly. But right now I'm staring at @JohnCleese like a weirdo. He is unaware."

He has good taste in TGIF sitcoms: "Defs got a picture with Sabrina the Teenage Witch last night. Yes mate"

He is sensitive/not afraid to cry: "Well, that was emotional. Alan Rickman had me in actual tears in the cinema. What a performance. Good work team."

He is not big headed and appreciates his fans: "100,000 followers? What the hell. You're all mad. I'm boring as. However, I'll try to be wittier and more affable from now on. Cheers. X"

And, in case it was not yet evident, he has a sense of humor:

Who Am I?

In honor of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 I have decided to show you a picture of one Harry Potter actor, and your job is to tell me who his famous mom or dad is. I'll accept character names if you don't know the actor/actress's professional name.

Here is the child: Domhall Gleeson
Photo from imdb.

-his famous father is also in the Harry Potter franchise, although the two do not play related characters.
-his father first appeared in the franchise in movie four, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
-his father's character does not make it to the end of the series :'(
-the two only have one scene together

Ok, I gave you so many hints I hope you get this one!!!

Tom Felton Surprises Fans With Pizza

I love me some Tom Felton. Despite his 10-year run as Harry Potter's nemesis, Draco Malfoy, Tom has proven himself to be a pretty stand-up guy. Remember that time he talked me out of hating Twi-Hards for the recent MTV Movie Award disappointment? Well, earlier this week he proved himself once again to be a delightful fella' when he surprised some fans in New York with pizza. The fans were camping out along the streets of New York, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Harry Potter stars when they were quiet pleasantly surprised.

How I envy those fans.

Most of the cast of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 have been stateside for the New York premiere and American promotion-fest. Too bad all the action is in New York, on the inferior American coast (I speak in jealousy and rage). Fortunately, stars like Tom Felton are kind enough to keep us all in the loop via his Twitter feed!

Of delivering the pizza, Tom tweeted: "hope everyone who camped out is ok! sorry i couldn't get pizzas to all of you i was getting told to leave!x" He later added "i enjoyed my role as pizza delivery boy last night!"

Tom also shared this picture of him and Daniel Radcliffe (and Rupert in the background) with the caption: "Myself and Radcliffe after the show! Sad to be parting ways!"
It's got to be weird to think that next year there won't be a crazy media fest or another movie that will bring this group together again. I liken it to when I moved out of Berkeley and realized there would be no more dinners at The Castle or late nights/early mornings spent studying by the fireplace. Change can be so sad.

I feel your sadness, Harry Potter cast.
